Quivering palm
placed against the door
eyes squeezed tight
she mimics a prayer
heard before
flinching
at the whimpers
behind the door
“Mummy, Mummy,” she sobs
unable to contain
the pain anymore
“See what you’ve done,” he roars
to the body
slumped in blood
on the floor
Oh wow! This made my blood run cold – powerful words indeed.
