What a horrific act and horrific waste of that young mother’s life.
You should read other articles that have been published on this matter. The photos and recounts of victims leave me speechless.
That is so terrible…you would have thought that those witch hunting days would be over since sorcery is just a guise people put on others that they are afraid of. This is definitely disappointing and heartbreaking at the same time.
It is terrible. What’s worse is that UN reports that sorcery is blamed in order for people to acquire the possessions of those accused. Papua New Guinean’s should be in an uproar about this but we just carry on..I think it is when it becomes an accepted way of life that we should be most afraid and it is accepted.
I clicked like but no one could like this, but kudos to you for writing about it. Hundreds of people looked on, took photos ?? I am so astounded that no one intervened on her behalf. This is like living in the middle ages. Like you my heart goes out to her relatives especially her poor children.
I know what you mean about the like button. While I am shocked no one helped I realised that to do so would have put that person in danger as well. But my question is where were the cops??
They are hiding afraid of the populous? afraid of village elders?? afraid of getting their hands dirty
Its very sad that this happens to innocent people because of supidity.

This is scarily close to home. In two ways. I live in Aus, and my husband works inPNG on occasion. He has heard tales like this numerous times. Unfortunately, for those living in remote parts of the country, it is the way they do things. I am not condoning this behaviour, and I feel for all involved. Thankfully, white people, like my husband, as expats are treated quite well.
